The house was constantly altered through their lifetimes by Charles and Ray, it is now preserved in its 1988 (date of Ray’s death, 10 years to the day after Charles) state for eternity, well 250 years; as the fundraising campaigns had it. The Kappe Residence was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1996, and in 2008 it was named one of the top ten houses in Los Angeles by an expert panel selected by the Los Angeles Times.
